Driffield Show! - July

 Driffield Show is getting nearer by the day and we are all getting prepared. Its more exciting this year as we are going to be doing demonstrations throughout the day on how to make bread. We will be doing this in conjunction with our local flour mill, Bradshaws, who supply us with our flour. We aim to produce a series of half hour shows in which Stuart Bradshaw will discuss the process of wheat from field to flour, and then i will take over and demonstrate flour to bread.

We still have our regular trade stand where you are welcome to come and see us and our bread along with everything else we produce. Feel free to come and have a look and ask any questions and get your hands dirty joining in with our show.

Well, as you can see from the photos above, this years Driffield Show was a great success!! The bread demonstration was a hit with he crowds, not least because of the delicious smell that was in the air from the fresh "in front of your eyes" baked bread!

After a quick talk about the origin and milling of flour from Stuart Bradshaw of Bradshaws flour mill - Driffield, we had helpers young and old joining in with the kneading and shaping of the dough. There was no surprise when each and everyone came back to pick up their "thumb loaf" after it had been baked so they could sample their new found baking skills!! I thoroughly enjoyed teaching the children how the bread is made and why we use each of the ingredients. It was a joy to see everyone's faces light up when they realised they were actually going to get their hands dirty with the dough.... don't miss out next year!!

Our trade stand also proved to be a hit again this year. "We'll need more stock next year dad!"

On discovering that the bread demonstration was such a big hit with the crowds I've decided that it is a must to have several demonstrations within the shop for our customers to take part in. Once we have the demonstration kitchen up and running we hope to get started with a weekly cooking/ baking demo - watch this space!
